Von Won to Ignite "Faith Night" at Rice University with a Halftime Show on His Birthday

Rice University Men's Basketball vs. Houston Christian University - December 2nd, 2023

Houston, TX - The exciting world of college basketball will intersect with the spirit-lifting sounds of faith-based music when Von Won takes the stage for the halftime show on "Faith Night" at Rice University's men's basketball game on December 2nd, 2023. Adding to the anticipation and excitement, the event coincides with Von Won's birthday.

This performance isn't just about a basketball game or halftime show; it signifies a deeper commitment to faith. Von Won, a Rice alumni and All-American track star, is proud to host this night that resonates with spiritual vibes at an institution not primarily recognized for its Christian events.

In an era when many artists release albums and fade, Von Won is different. Just a day prior, on December 1st, he will unveil his eagerly-awaited album "Grown And Saved". This Faith Night serves as an extension of the celebration of his latest musical offering. "I hope to bring more faith-based events to the campus and show people the value in living 'Grown And Saved'," Von Won remarks, underscoring his mission to marry music, faith, and community engagement.

But Von Won isn't the only one in the spotlight. Phoenix Walwyn, Von Won’s incredibly talented daughter, will grace the crowd with her vocals, singing the national anthem. Phoenix, already creating ripples in the music scene, launched her EP "Love Languages" earlier this year under the Grown And Saved label, marking her territory as a rising star.

This monumental evening promises more than just a game; it's a convergence of sport, faith, and music, a true representation of community spirit.

For those keen on being part of this soulful journey and unforgettable game night, exclusive tickets for "Faith Night" can be procured through a special link here soon.

The evening will not just echo with the dribbling of the basketball but will resonate with notes of faith, love, and unity. Join the celebration, feel the vibe, and be a part of a night that promises to etch itself in the annals of Rice University's history.

Riddle me this. At what point in time, have you been convinced to go somewhere, do something or buy something where the person presenting the opportunity shed a negative light on the very thing they were promoting. I mean imagine yourself walking on a car lot and the salesman says “Yeah, this car is absolutely undependable but it does have the possibility to get you certain places.” I am sure you would walk away in disbelief. This is what I have been in the cut observing. Why would a Pastor, Artist or Believer get on a platform and shed a negative light on the church? I get it famo, its being transparent or dare I say colloquially, keeping it real. That being said, I must adamantly disagree. I will also double down and say it’s unproductive, sabotage and simply weirdo behavior. Yes, all organizations and even people have positive and negative nuances. However, everything is not for public consumption. Now I am not eluding to being dishonest or manipulative. I am speaking about using wisdom. I am speaking about putting Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: She shall bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.” Into action. I won’t make the broad generalization that they are purposely creating confusion. I have just found that for some reason Christians catch this strange mental fog when speaking to the main stream. I don’t know if its zeal, ignorance or just a lame way of thinking. But I do know this, the pandering has to stop. We as men and women of God are here to love EVERYONE, not be loved by everyone. The truth is a very divisive thing. There will be or already has been a time in your life where you realize telling someone the truth can be an awesome experience or the death of a relationship. Now of course, its your job as the communicator to do so respectfully and clearly. It is not your job to comprehend it for people. The point I am making is “stand on business” God is not in a popularity contest. He has a word that has stood and will stand. It is our job to stand on it baby!! Represent it well. Live it, learn it and teach it. God’s word has sustained me for over 25 years. I live by it, not perfectly to keep it G with you. But I will die by it undoubtedly. I am born and raised in New" Orleans. Hurricane Katrina sent me to Houston. I raised six kids and went back to college while working a fulltime job. I received a Bachelors in Business and a Masters in Education. I’ve been to jail several times, shot in my face, been hungry, homeless and confused about life. The one mainstay has been the word and my belief in God. Be steadfast! Be the normal you and speak God’s truth. You don’t have to be extra or overthink it. Our job is to represent well, the rest will be on that person and the Holy Spirit. With that being said if you are a believer, stop saying unnecessary things about the church. You could be truthful, just read the room and apply some tact famo. -Love. Terrence “Gifted Da Flamethrowa” Veal
