Houston Rap Legend Dougie D Gives His Life to Christ & Joins Grown And Saved Records

Known for his lyrical skill and authentic storytelling, Houston rap legend Dougie D—formerly of the iconic group Guerilla Maab—is entering a brand-new chapter of his life and music. Once celebrated for his contributions to Houston’s mainstream rap scene, Dougie D has now dedicated his life and art to Jesus Christ, becoming a bold new voice in Christian Hip Hop.
Raised in a musical family, Dougie D was surrounded by melody and rhythm from an early age. His parents sang and played music in their home, sparking his passion for music and leading him to start rapping as a teenager. Alongside fellow Houston artists Trae Da Truth and Z-Ro, Dougie D helped form the legendary group Guerilla Maab, quickly earning respect for his sharp lyrics and heartfelt delivery. His collaborations with southern rap icons like Bun B of UGK further cemented his status as one of H-Town’s most gifted artists.
Through years of success, Dougie’s music often reflected the struggles, realities, and triumphs of being a Black man in America. But recently, he has experienced a profound spiritual awakening, finding a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and making the life-changing decision to repent from his past and use his platform to glorify God.
“God completely changed my heart,” says Dougie D. “Now I’m using my gift not for the world, but to bring people closer to Him.”
Houston Pastor and Christian Hip Hop artist Von Won discovered Dougie’s transformation after videos of his new faith-based freestyles began circulating on Facebook. Moved by Dougie’s authenticity and passion for God, Von Won reached out, leading to deep conversations and eventually a kingdom collaboration. After performing his debut Christian single “Blessing Me” live at Space City Church, Dougie D officially signed with Grown And Saved Records, a label focused on ministry direction, artist development, and personal accountability.
“Dougie’s music sounds better than ever!” says Von Won, CEO of Grown And Saved. “It’s authentic, spirit-filled, and will impact people most Christian rappers could never reach. Plus, it’s jamming!”
